Looking in a Webster's dictionary one of the first meanings of cure is pastoral charge (care). Checking jewishgen.org/ShtetlSeeker ---there are 10 town listings for Pfaffenhofen in Germany. Do you have any other information? Do you know the religion? You could then look for church records.
