My great great grandmother, Lissette BAUMGARTNER, was born September 18, 1876 in Langenzenn. The 1920 census record indicates she came to the U.S. about 1893. I cannot find any record of her arrival or locate her on a census record before 1920. Her death certificate indicates that her father's name was Leonhard REUTTER, born in Langenzenn. Church records in Chicago indicate that her maiden name was BAUMGARTNER and not REUTTER. (This is just the begining of my confusion.) Her obituary indicates she had a brother named Leonhard REUTTER. A researcher in Germany was unable to find a Lissette Baumgartner born on the above date in Langenzenn. But, he did find in Lutheran Church archives a Christine Elisabetha Luise Margaretha REUTTER born February 9, 1876 in Langenzenn to Johann Leonhard REUTTER and Anna Maria FISCHER. My questions are: 1. Should I assume that this is my gr gr grandmother? Afterall, she did name two of her daughters Luise and Margaretha. 2. Is there any reason why the month and day of her birth might be off by 7 months? 3. Is there a reason she would use a maiden name other than that of her father? This is my first time posting and any assistance would be appreciated.
