Janice, I am wondering if the town you are mentioning isn't "Hollfeld". This town lies between Bamberg and Bayreuth. I have ancestors from a small village outside Hollfeld but they were catholic and went to church in Hollfeld. They also immigrated around 1888. The story goes that the father brought 3 children over here, went back to bring the rest of the family but his wife would not come so he stayed in Germany.
