Thank you Richard for the tips on Aschaffenburg. A name in my collateral lines from Aschaffenburg is ORT. Catherine THEODORE married Jacob Ort from Aschaffenburg. I believe my Theodores, Hartmanns, and Orts were all interconnected as many families from the mid-1850s were. Would you by chance know the diocese that Aschaffenburg belongs to? Thanks again, Noreen -----Original Message----- From: Richard W Jones <richmack3@juno.com> To: BAVARIA-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Thu, 13 Oct 2005 21:56:50 -0400 Subject: Re: [BAVARIA] HARTMANN/ReistenhausenAschaffenburg Noreen, Nice town. Noreen, Aschaffenburg is in the Wuerzburg Diocese. Their Archive has filmed the Parish Registers. http://www.bistum-wuerzburg.de/bwo/dcms/sites/bistum/information/sgv/dioezesanar chiv/familienforschung.html (Make sure you copy the whole URL) Happy Hunting George |-----Original Message----- |From: lp247a@aol.com [mailto:lp247a@aol.com] |Sent: Friday, October 14, 2005 10:00 PM |To: BAVARIA-L@rootsweb.com |Subject: Aschaffenburg | | | Thank you Richard for the tips on Aschaffenburg. I wanted to share with the group my experience with an ancestor who was said to be from Aschaffenburg in the Census Records here in the United States. Based on a census record, I assumed the ancestor was from the city of Aschaffenburg. For years, I had tried to search every available source for the city of Ashaffenburg and did not find them. Eventually, I came to the conclusion that the census record was indicating the region of Aschaffenburg. I turned my attention to a search of villages around the city of Aschaffenburg, and eventually found them in KLEINKAHL and SONDERKAHL. Based on my experience, I would encourage searchers to research further if you find a record indicating Aschaffenburg. You may be pleasantly surprised when you are able to find even more specific information about your ancestors in a nearby village. Steve Frank SFrank@woh.rr.com Tiffin, Ohio
