The pioneer for our Hohmann family in America was Carl Hohmann. He was born in Germany on 3 September 1849 . He was the son of Johanus & Margaret (Haall) Hohmann . He left Germany from the Port of Bremen as a steerage passenger on the S.S. Koenig Wilhelm I and arrived at the Port of New York on 1 November 1873 . His listed occupation was as a shoemaker. Also unclear is when and where Carl married Philippina Steuer. According to her death certificate she was born in Germany abt. 1852. The 1920 census lists 1870 as her year of immigration to the United States. Her parents were Anthony & Magdeline Steuer, both born in Germany. If anyone has connections with this family, I would love to exchange information. I have been unable to find the Hohmann's in Germany.
