Donna, Bavaria is a state of Germany, much like California is a state of the US, except there are many fewer states in Germany than the US. so, they are proportionally larger compared to the whole country. There may be many cities with names like Barrostot, but one that sounds similar in Bavaria is Bauschlott. Others in Germany are: Barstadt, Barstede, Berstadt, Bierstadt, Borrstadt, Bredstedt, Broistedt, and Burstadt. That is providing the first letter really was a b. If you go with other first letters that could be confused with a "b", you can have villages that start with "f" and maybe a "v": with all of the variations seen in "b" villages. My ancestors would be about in the 1800 in this region before coming to the United States, there name was Knoffloch.
