Max, I can certainly understand the cautiousness. Many of my family gave such conflicting dates, it took years to sort it all out. Some didn't even know their own ages or birthdates! Death certs are notorious for inaccurate information if not backed up with other sources. The person giving information at the time of death often guessed or repeated family stories. I hope your trip is fruitful. Church records can be of great help if available. I noticed on the LDS site there were many of that surname, and almost all came from Pfalz. I am originally from Minnesota, but have called Denver home since 1969.
