I have ancestors that had the name Yahraus in the U.S. They settled in Pike Co., Ohio in the mid-1800s. Specifically my gggm was Elizabeth Yahraus who married Christoph Hohenstein. She had a brother in Pike Co. named John. There was also a George Yahraus, but I am not yet sure if he were related or not. They indicated in the census that they were from Bavaria. My guess is that the name in Bavaria was probably Jahraus. Is anybody out there researching this family and can anyone confirm that they probably had the name Jahraus in Bavaria? Also if anyone can give me a lead as to where they might have come from in Bavaria I would appreciate it. Larry Wing
