Hello to All, I need some advice! I have documented proof that my Bishop/Bischoff family prayed in language of "low dutch" after arriving in southwest Virginia in 1770's. I have found a marriage license in the Lutheran Church Records where a couple married in Ansbach in 1758. My question is; Would someone that belonged to the Lutheran Church in this time period in Ansbach, Bavaria, Germany would have later in America been considered speaking "low dutch". I am totally unfamiliar with Bavaria's dialects. Thanks for any advice. Doug Bishop in Columbus, Ohio, USA.
