Hi, I am new to the list and I am hoping that someone can answer a question for me. My g,great-grandfather, Johann (John) WURZBACHER appears in an 1880 US Census as living in Cumberland, Allegany County, Maryland. His birthplace is listed as Bavaria. Now I know that Bavaria is a huge area. What would be the best way in finding out what part of Bavaria he came from? I have already checked his Citizenship record and it also states that he was from Bavaria. As you can see, this is not an awful lot of information to go by.
