In the Civil War an ancestor's name is spelled four different ways, two ways on his reenlistment papers. It is wrong in the Ohio Records and on a county memorial. The marriage record is spelled Graus, later it was Krauss. The marriage record is Schlenk, later it was Schlenker. My aunt could not find her marriage record because Gerstacker was recorded as Gustacku. In one Census Sommer was recorded as Summer.
