I am sometimes hirering a professional genealogist for Bavaria. But from my point of view and from my exprience they should never get more than 40 to 60 DM (20 to 30 $) per hour + travel expenses. Sometimes I can even understand that someone who do not know you for the first steps would like to have a deposit, but you should never pay more as deposit than two hours!!! And it is not very usual to pay a deposit. It is not very nice to hear that they are companies treating the people like this and making that much profit on. It would be very nice when everyone who had good experiences with someone to get the addresses to all of us or to the webmasters of the most used pages so that they will be stored.
