    3. Hello All, I am researching Joseph Hofmann and Dorothea Brunhoeffer who according to the US NY census records of 1860, 1870 1880 were from Bavaria, Germany. I don't see either one in the 1850 census. I could not find him on the Hamburg Passenger lists. Have not checked for her. He was naturalized in 1858. Manhattan Catholic Church records of the 1850's and 60's show a number of christenings and a marriage in 1851. I have carefully noted the sponsors at christenings and the witnesses at the marriage but I have not researched them. They were all German names and one of them was an Anna Hofmann, but I don't know yet who she is. There were no Brunhoeffer witnesses. Joseph and Dorothea's marriage record says that Joseph was from Muersbach (spelling hard to read) Bavaria and she was from Brebach, Bavaria. Apparently there is a Brebach but there is a Unterpreppach near to a Mursbach in the parish Ebern, Diocese of Wurzburg. From Joseph's death record in 1883 his parents were Joseph and Anna, no maiden name. Hers gives no parents names. I don't know if I have enough to write to Diocese of Wurzburg, without her parents names. The Mormons have not filmed these town church records. Are there any other types of German records I could use to fill in some information? In other words on the district level or Bavaria level? Regards, Nancy
