Hi Listers; Tracing my forbears in Bavaria: Antonia Ring b. 1816 left Treffelstein in April 1870 and came to America. She is my 4xgrgrandmother. John Baptist Liegl, b.1826 in Hocha, near Waldmuenchen, left there in April 1854 and came to America. His is my 2xgrgrandfather. I understand from relatives that permission to emigrate had to be given before they left. Can anyone on this list tell me if I would contact the Rathaus in these towns for possible records or is there some central location where these are kept? Thank you Phyllis in Wisconsin
