Fuss (Fuß) is the word for foot used now. Sesusn could have been a variation or someone could have misinterpreted a cursive f for a s. (english f's used to look like s, during colonial times. I dont know what lines are in measurement. >Subject: [BAVARIA] Puzzling word Date: Mon, 28 Feb 2000 18:06:07 EST From: LTBoehmke@aol.com To: BAVARIA-L@rootsweb.com The record pages of my ggrandfathers Bavarian military service from 1845 to 1848 gives his physical description as 5 Sesusn, 8 Zolln, 3 Linian. I can guess that it means 5 feet, 8 inches, 3?. But neither of my dictionaries has a word like Sesusn, or Sasusr, or Sisuse. Is that an old word? Does it mean "feet"? And what are 3 lines?
