I am searching for information on Eva Barbara HARTMAN, born 10 December 1836 in Eldedorf according to her funeral card. I have been told this town is near Nurnberg in Bavaria but have been unable to find it in gazeteers. Can someone confirm its existance in 1836? Eva is said to have been born on the HARTMAN estate the daughter of the head baker. All servants are said to have taken the family name (don't know if this is true). She is said to have left Germany at the age of 7 on a cattle boat for St. Louis at the request of the Busch family to work as a baker for them. I do know that she was living in East St. Louis, St. Clair Co., Illinois in 1860 and was married to Thomas James BURTON according to the 1860 census. This is the first record I have found for her in the US. Mike
