Hi, I am new to the list and I have just found out that my ggggrandfather came from Breunigweiler, Bavaria(Bayern?). I am searching for any information about him. His name was George RAUTH born June 5, 1764. He married Katharina WERST in 1789. He died in Germany on September 13, 1843. Katharina was born (in the same area) on April 17, 1772 and died September 23, 1855. They had 3 children (that we know of) Peter, Joseph and John who all went to the U.S. and settled in Defiance, Ohio sometime around 1855. This is my very first venture into German genealogy so any and all information about this family or any advice as to where to go for research would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Diana

Does any one know what the most popular ports too board the ships to the USA our ancestors would have taken from Bavaria? I'm having a problem finding my grandfather's (John Robl) city of origin in Bavaria. Any suggestions would surly be appreciated.
