Need lots of help. Recently found out my ggrandmothers maiden name is different than we had thought for several years. We thought she was Schliemann but found out she is a HOEFT. Mary/Maria Augusta HOEFT born Feb 1852, immigrated 1856 with family, married Elwood Graff in Adrian, MI in early 1867. First child was Anna born Jan 1868 in Adrian. The Graff, Hoeft, and Schliemann families all knew each other in MI and highly possible they knew each other in Germany also. It is thought that Elwood's mother married a Schliemann in MI. If anyone has one or more of these names PLEASE get in touch with me. I am supposed to go to a reunion in Germany this summer and this new bit of info has really mixed things up. Also for those of you who know German names well, we have found out that Elwood is not a real German name and probably was used instead of an unpronounceable German name.
