For all who might be new to writing letters to various authorities in Bavaria, I thought I would take a quick moment to remind you to enclose a self-addressed envelope with 2 international reply coupons (which can be purchased at your local post office) in your correspondence. As you can imagine, German officials must receive many requests for genealogical purposes. I have read that there is a general rule: "No postage, no answer". The coupons do not cost that much and are at least worth the peace of mind to know that your correspondence will not be disregarded simply due to a lack of return postage! Joanne

Can someone take a moment to describe the "international reply coupons" I keep hearing on these message boards? I went to the Post Office and asked for these and was told it was just the first class stamp (.60). So I bought lot of these, but is this correct?
