Dear List - it can be a MAJOR problem when one loses urls/email addresses, etc. It is also a problem when there are thousands of "favorite" places on your computer. I work with an older 486 at 14.4 - yes - almost an antique. It will be quite awhile before I can upgrade my system. So, I found a way to keep track of my research, save space, keep organized - like many in the USA - I have family lines that extend from Europe, England, across the USA (and now the Middle East). When I do a "search" I "send" myself an email. "Copy" the hot link to the letter, "copy" any appropriate text - then send it to myself- then/or I can "save" the whole thing to a floppy. If the material appears in a Gedcom, or a History page - I try to "copy" the text. This "paid off" when I found a Kristina Aldrup, from Sweden from the early 1800's about two years ago. The website is no longer there - but I have the information/data saved for research. Hope this helps someone - Kristina Aldrup, San Antonio, TX, USA Date: Tue, 11 Jan 2000 08:39:01 -0600 (CST) From: owtlaw1@webtv.net To: BAVARIA-L@rootsweb.com Please see pages 3 through 22 on my home page. I'm sure you can replace some of your lost urls that way. Hope it helps. Wish I could help with your friends list. Have a good day & happy hunting.
