    3. Dear Readers, Here's a site you'll want to write down for future reference (or book mark): AllanHobbs Writes:======================== ShtetlSeeker - Town Search for Europe (with distances) http://www.jewishgen.org/shtetlseeker/loctown.htm Map Quest is at http://www.mapquest.com Regards Allan Hobbs, Australia ====================================== What Allan doesn't say is that it's better than going straight to mapquest.com for small towns and villages. I tried to mapquest.com on two villages, "Rudzka" in CR, and "Weichering" in DE. Mapquest said not found. When I used the shtetl seeker I found both. It's database of villages is incredible. Remember to limit the country you want first before you tell it to submit the search, otherwise it'll check all countries in its database. It uses the soundex system for finding the village, whereas mapquest doesn't know beans about haceks and carkas. Also, once you get the map you may not see the village below the star because it is so small that it won't show until you zero (magnify) in once or twice. Do this by selecting "Recenter & Zoom" before you click right on top of the star icon. When you finally see the town name on the map, use the function on the lower right to enlarge the map (plus symbol +), then you can select to print it out. Questions? Sharing.
