    2. Thanks George for the link to the archives. I have gone there just now and confirmed that both Aschaffenburg and Reistenhausen are on their list for churches with records filmed. Now for my next step.... 2. Thank you Steve for the tip...I noticed on the map I found that Aschaffenburg was spread out indicating a region, not a city and so this confused me a bit. I could not tell if Reistenhausen (or now named Collenburg) was in this Aschaffenburg region, but from the link George sent me for the Wurzburg diocese, it must be close, because both Aschaffenburg and Reistenhausen are listed as having church records which are available. Reistenhausen is my main objective for my Hartmann ancestors. Thanks again.. Hi Deane: If the original German word was "Rheinkreis," Rhinecircle is not the best translation. Although "Kreis" can mean circle, in this context it refers to an administrative district that is somewhat similar to our county. This district/county was established in 1816 and was part of Bavaria which then had a monarchy; hence "Royal Bavarian Government." Today, I think the area is referred to as the "Rheinland-Palatinate."
