While searching thru the Parish register for the Catholic Church in Karlshuld, Bavaria, I found several families that originally came from elsewhere. Although I have a fairly detailed map of Bavria, I could not find these places. Can anyone help? 1. Muhlhausen (found lots of these, but which one??) the first time it is listed as Kastl, Muhlhousen; the second time as Muhlhausen, pfr. Utzenhofen 2. Fligelsbach, pfae__ (pfr.?) Hausen 3. Ingelstadt, Moosburg (I know where Ingelstatd is, but would Moosburg be a smaller town nearby? It's not on my map. Would a family from this town be found in the Church records at Ingelstadt, or would they be recorded at Moosburg only?) My great-grandfather, Joseph Plutz, was born 11/25/1841 in Blattnitz. I have a postcard from a relative in this area, but do not know where the present-day town is. The postcard shows a picture of a very small village and it's church. The only "Blattnitz" I found using the Jewish Shtetlseeker program was in Poland, which I do not believe is correct. Does anyone know of a Blattnitz in Germany or Czechoslovakia? Thanks!
One piece of information I read recently about the Palatinate and Bavaria is at: http://palam.org/~palam/palatine.htm Nancy Greneder@aol.com wrote: > > Dear List, I am not clear on the connection between Bavaria and the > Palatinate. Dear List, I am not clear on the connection between Bavaria and the Palatinate. I believe that at one time they were affiliated...but how, I don't know. When was this and was this section ever known as Bavaria? Would someone born in the Palatinate saynthat his birth place was Bavaria? I think not but someone is trying to convince me that that could be the case. Are there any good sources of maps of this region and Alsace during the 1800 to 1870 period. Thanks for any information. So much for trying to help someone who SOLICITED for the address of a German researcher in a message to this link - see below (and now REFUSES to accept the desired address !) I'm pretty sure the first town name should be spelled Miesbach (could also have been spelled in old records as Miehsbach). Just a guess. Hope you get info on the others. Hello Christine, I think you may have been talking about me. I visited Laaber and Grossetzenberg this summer. Walked around both towns. Checked out both churches. Looked for gravestones with family names on them (found one or two possibilities, but cannot link them up at this time). I looked for Lippert names in the cemetery, but did not find any. Knocked on a Sinzinger door in Grossetzenburg and talked to a 30ish granddaughter. Her grandmother could not remember any of my family members and her grandfather was napping. The granddaughter did say she would ask some more questions of her older relatives. I was able to spend one day at the archives in Regensburg, and I did find records for both of my grandparents there. I hope to continue this line of research with the help of a professional researcher. Sincerely, Jennifer Komassa jenni@ctrpnt.com
Since everyone seems to be listing Bavarian towns they are searching for, I thought I'd throw mine in. I have two questions: 1. On a ship record for an ancestor's family from Bavaria (GRASSINGER), they list their town as Tornau. When using the various place searches, I get several matches. The family was supposedly from a town near Bamberg. Can anyone tell me if there is a town of Tornau near Bamberg? 2. On another ship record for an ancestor (EMMENDORFER or EMMENDORF), the town listed appears to be Funsstadt. I can't match it on the place searches I've tried, although Meyers Orts lists a Funtenstadt. Can anyone tell me if Funtenstadt was in Bavaria? Could this be the same place, or should I keep looking? Thanks a lot for any advice. Eileen in SD
Could someone on the list possibly help me out? I did a search to find possible relatives in Germany (Bavaria, specifically), and came up with 2 to try. When I e-mailed them, however, they bounced with the following messages: >@t-online.degermany>... Host unknown (Name server: t-online.degermany: host not >found) >@vr-web.degermany>... Host unknown (Name server: vr-web.degermany: host not >found) Since they came back with the host unknown (rather than address unknown), I figure the service may have changed names, and that these people might still be there, but with a different domain. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help Christine cvhbauman@aol.com
A friend has reached a dead end in searching an ancestor (STANGL) who was from Krailling - near Munich. He is interested in locating someone in the area who does professional research for a fee. If anyone on the list does this or has used someone, I would appreciate hearing from you. By the way - this STANGL line goes back to a Georg Stangl b. abt 1800, married Rosina OSTERMYER. They had 3 children: Anastasia, Francis Xavier, Clara. Gary
Am seeking information about my WINNERLINGs of Wurlitz. Anna WINNERLING married Johann Adam MUELLER about 1770 -- do not know place. Both were born in Wurlitz -- near Rehau. Name could also be WINTERLING, WUNDERLICH, etc. Trudy Lundy

Hello Carol, geo@genealogy.net returned "nothing found" for Kutzenburg. A second try with the spelling "Kutzenberg" returned the following: Prefix: Kutzenberg Kutzenberg Part of: Ebensfeld GKZ : 09 4 78 120 County : | | +---- Lichtenfels {LIF} RegBez : | +------- Oberfranken Land : +--------- Bayern ZIP : 96250 Popul : 201 Locat : (Ebensfeld) 50d04m N 10d57m E Maps : TK25 5931 Ebensfeld TK50 L5930 Ebern Euro Lf48 This and other "Town Locator" options can be found at: http://users.rootsweb.com/~deuhes/Hessen/towns.htm An additional online help can be found at the "Deutche Post" site at: http://www.plz-suche.de/plz_suche.dpag/engl/index.html So then it appears that (this) Kutzenberg is now (at least in an administrative capacity) a part of the town of Ebensfeld as shown above. Additionally, if you think this may be your village, the Landkreis (or county of) Lichtenfels has a website that you might find useful at: http://www.lichtenfels.de/ Then, you may wish to bounce around the Oberfranken site for clues at: http://www.oberfranken.de/ Best Wishes, Larry
