    3. Hello, I'm a newbie to the BAVARIA list and hope some of you might have information on my great grandfather. Daniel G. ROTHHAAS, Sr., b. 15 Aug. 1854, d. 1 Feb. 1930, from Birkweiler, Rheinfalz, Bayern (Bavaria) went to New Jersey, USA where on 23 Nov. 1873 he married Katherine Barbara MULLER originally from Zizishousen O/A. Nurtingen, Wuerttemberg. They had 7 children (Wilhelm Adolf, R. Theodore, Daniel G. Jr., Harry, Albert J., Emma Julie, Laura P.) then moved to Downingtown, PA. Daniel G. ROTHHAAS, Sr. operated a Spagnum Moss/Hemp business in New Jersey. His sons all became glass blowers, and one eventually went on to be the lighthouse keeper at Cape May, NJ. The sons changed the spelling of their last name to ROTHAS at some point. Daniel G. ROTHHAAS, Sr. and his wife Katherina Barbara MULLER ROTHHAAS are burried at Northwoods Cemetary outside of Downingtown, PA. Any information as to the parents and extended family of Daniel G. ROTHHAAS, or emmigration/ship/port facts about him would be much appreciated. Many thanks. K.Kleeh Berkeley, CA

    3. . Would you please search this source for my great-grandfather Bauer's home 'town', RAUSCHENSTEIG? Rauschensteig seems to be little more than a spot along the road between Röslau and Thiersheim, both of which are small villages (I think). ################################### I´ve found the place rated as a "village" in the county ( Landkreis ) of WUNSIEDEL in Oberfranken. The Catholic people belonged to the parish of Wunsiedel ( a town also ) and the Protestants belonged to the parish of Oberroeslau. In 1964 it had 53 inhabitants. I hope this helps some. Wilhelm

    1. [BAVARIA] KELSHEIMER
    2. Does anyone out there know if Kulsheimer is the same as Kelsheimer in German? I put in Kelsheimer, only received one hit, a Von Kelsheimer. When I put in Ku lsheimer, I received twenty hits. What is the difference, if any? Thanks, Sharon Ps, thanks to George for his info.

    3. Hello, I was able to find Semberg and Samberg using the Jewish Shtetlseeker. http://www.jewishgen.org/ShtetlSeeker/loctown.htm Give it a try. Put in your spellings and select Germany. Click on "start search". You will be given a number of possibilities. Click on the coordinates of the town you want to find and you will be taken to mapquest where the red star places the location for you. You can identify icon as far as it will go. Sometimes the towns are too small to actually show up as named but the red star is the location. Unfortunately, I was unable to locate Refthal.....I think this is a misspelling. Try some other spellings of the word and see what shows up. Regards, Mary Ann > My gggrandfather Wolfgang Johannes ADELHOCH was born 10 June 1784 at > Refthal, Oberpfalz, Bayern, according to information that I have received. > I am unable to locate "Refthal" using Mapquest, geo@genealogy.net or > maps@microsoft.com. 1. [BAVARIA] Bavaria Schwaben
    2. D A welser
    3. I am seeking information on ancestors from the Schwabische area of Bavaria. Records show that 4 siblings (2F, 2M) emmigrated in 1855 from the village of Oberingingen (also Oberringen ?) directly to St. Clair County, Michigan(apparently). The parents of these four were Mathias Welser and Barbara (Meyer) Welser. The Village of Oberlum (unk) is also involved, as one of he older boys is shown to have been born in Oberlum. I have been poking around and even visited Oberingingen this summer while on vacation. The nearest church dates to 1957. The village is northwest of Augsburg in a predominantly agricultural area. The Michigan Welsers became farmers so the roots are probably farm stock. Any help would be appreciated Dave Welser Edgewater, MD
