    2. Does anyone know if the Catholic Church Records at the Catholic Archives in Regensburg has been microfilmed, and, if so, where to locate them? (I asked this before but if anyone responded, I missed it.)

    3. Hello List, I am new to the Bavaria list. My great grandparents came from the Black Forest. I do not know exactly what town. My ggrandfather, William Hug, was probably born around 1864 and I think he sailed for America around 1878. Does anyone have a suggestion for a point of departure? What port may have been most frequently used by those in Southern Germany? Thanks, Annie

    3. I am Looking for information on the family of my ggrandfather, Michael Ott , who imigrated to the US from Dreuschendorf, Bavaria, Germany in the late 1883 or early 1884. His father was Jacob Ott. He married Margaret Ertl in 1884, soon after both had immigrated from Germany, and and they farmed in Northeast Iowa. We believe he is the only one from his family who imigrated to the US. I have tried many of the on line services and have found hundreds of Otts, but none in my ancestral line. Records from the church, county, and state on Michael Ott and his decendants give little information above what I have here in this note. Any help is appreciated. Bob Ott,

Content-type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-transfer-encoding: 7bit Dear Friends, It is not without some embarrassment that I ask for your help. Yesterday, after downloading an updated version of Microsoft's Outlook Express (Email), in the nuisance of the moment, I dutifully trashed the old version... along with all of my mail folders and my complete address book! :-( All of the references to European Archives and their addresses, Books and their authors, Map references, International Banking, you name it... They will all undoubtedly appear on the List again, but... most important are the addresses of my Friends and "Genealogy Family" So please drop me a line, and I will begin reconstructing my address book. -- Sincerely, Robert Zink Rock City Falls NY

    2. Thomas Fiske
    3. Dear Listers, I share with the famous musician Bach, the middle name "SEBASTIAN." I do not share his talent, however. He had 16 kids and I had only two. SEBASTIAN is a Bavarian name (also English, among other nationalities). The reason I know this is that my great grandfather, Adam SEBASTIAN, told census takers he was from Bayern. He could have confused the area with the Pfalz Palatinate, I am told. There may be some new members of the List to whom this name is not a mystery. It is to them I am appealing for help. Adam did not arrive in America in 1857 by boat, it appears, for his name is not on any ship lists. Perhaps he swam, or was delivered by angels. He seems to have arrived with possibly a brother, Andreas SEBASTIAN. Adam appears on the 1860 census was Adamus SEBASTIAN. he was a good Catholic man who was born about 1830 in Bavaria. Like many other good Germans of his time, he had lots of kids and died young, leaving his wife to raise them. Tom

    3. Dear Kathy, the german version of the Family Tree Maker from Parsons Technology Inc. is exactly called "Parsons Ahnenforscher V.xx", even "Fowin". Copyright is from FormalSoft, Inc. I tried to get in contact with them in Germany, what the telephone number I have in this program is wrong (someone is answering who has no idea about it). If someone knows how to get in contact with this persons to get infos about updates etc., could he/she inform me as well about this? Unfortunately I do not know anything about the costs... Kathy, maybe you could contact Parsons and find the informations out for us (Price and Contacts in Germany)? Probably it could be bought in some big stores such as Kaufhof, Saturn Hansa... 1. Sieg-Leey
    2. Hello: I wrote to ask about the location of a village said to be called Sieg-Leey, or Seeg-Leey. I am now aware that the family phonetics may have been a little off and that there is a town or a village called ZIEGELEI which is probably the one I'm looking for. Anyhow, can someone tell me where it is and who I might write to, to inquire about the family of Conrad Dirck/Derck who left there about 1750 with his wife Elisabetha Catherina Mullerin and their four sons, Karl, Johan Anthony, Wilhelm and Philip? Thanks very much for your help. Bernard
