On April 9 the pope will beatify FatherFrancis Xavier Selos, a Bavarian immigrant who died in New Orleans, LA. Just thought you would like to know.
I am stymied to say the least. My gggrandfather was John George MEIDENBAUER. It would seem from the information I have that his brother had the same name. They settled in Buffalo, New York around 1848. MY George was a gardener. The other George was a brewer. They seemed to have been of the Lutheran or Evanglische faith. George the gardener's wife was a Barbara FARBER/BARR/BAER depending on the record. She too was said to be from Bavaria. Does anyone have this surname in their line or can anyone guide me as to what area of Bavaria they may have come from. Thank you so much in advance. Sara in Alaska

I am trying to trace my family and am having a terrible time. Here is all I have my ggrandfather - George "Emile" Hamm b. 4/1875 in Germany - Immigrated to America - (Laurel County Kentucky) in 1892 - Died there in 1900. He married my ggrandmother - Mary C. Lees born November 20, 1879 in Colmar, Alsace, Lorraine to Xavier and Madeline Lees. (They immigrated to the US, in 1883). There is a John Hamm who witnessed the marriage but I am not sure if this was his father. How can one track the family line, or find a birth certificate or the passenger list or anything. Any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks, Terry Ann Hamm-Davis

Request assistance from Genealogist who lives/works close to Hermannsburg, Germany. Travelling to that area early March and would like to see if any relatives are still living, and as a secondary consideration, ancestral line. Would like to hear from anyone who can help or recommend a professional.
I got to the page fine, and there are not many styles of print. The page is very simple and loaded *very* quickly. Nice job! (If a browswer doesn't find the necessary font on a computer, it just substitutes its own defaults.) I took a look at the code and don't see anything to cause a problem with a browser. Most likely, the server was just temporarily down. Dear List, Do the following two families in Germany look familiar to anyone out there? I would very much appreciate some help. Thanking in advance anyone who responds to this plea. Jeannette in Ohio, Lpropane@juno.com Johan WOLFRAM, born 1866 in Germany, died 1940 in Germany married Elizabeth _____, born 1872 in Germany, died 1936 in Germany 4 known children: Ursala WOLFRAM Josef WOLFRAM Andrel WOLFRAM Martin WOLFRAM, born 1906 in Germany, died 1974 in Germany Martin married and had 6 children: Anna, Martin, Lawrence, Johan, Conrad, Franz (I believe Franz lived in Neufahrn near Munich.) I would like to contact any of these descendants. I long to visit Germany to just "be" in the place and walk on the ground. Perhaps some of them even live here in the United States. Anton GRUBER, born 1837 in Erding, Germany, died 1903 in Wisconsin. I have a record of his spouses and children; Anton GRUBER is my maternal great grandfather. Anton GRUBER had a brother: Mathias GRUBER, born 1839 in Erding, died 1920 in Munich. married Monica KAISER, born 1843 in Erding, died 1921 in Munich. 4 known children: Mary (Maria) GRUBER, born 1874 in Germany, died 1948 in Wisconsin. Thomas GRUBER, died 1905 in Germany. Ursala GRUBER Martin GRUBER, in 1947 his postal address was Munich 8, Plankousbeinsh 8/1, Germany-Bavaria, U.S.Zone. married Berta _____ 1 known child: Martin GRUBER, born 1909 in Germany. Martin may have been a physician. This Martin GRUBER, born 1909, had at least 2 children: Traudl GRUBER and Ingelein GRUBER. Of this GRUBER family, perhaps only Mary (Maria) GRUBER came to the United States. I have her descendants.
