    1. [BAVARIA] My new information
    2. Hi all, I just learned today that my Franz/Francis HAGEN was from Pfarrkirchen, Rottal-Inn, Niederbayern, Bayern. He immigrated to Dodge County, Wisconsin in 1895 and married Theresa UTTENDORFER. His parent's names were: Franz HAGEN and Elisabeth GREINSCHBERGER. Contact from anyone researching HAGEN's/GREINSCHBERGER's from this area would be most appreciated. Also, as always, searching for the UTTENDORFER (from Mitterhausen and Gerlstetten) and SPANGLE families anywhere, anytime. Thanks, Joanne

    3. Barbara- A good site to find towns in central Europe is http://www.jewishgen.org/ShtetlSeeker/loctown.htm It shows a Honigsberg in Austria, 53.6 miles SW of Vienna, and several Konigsbergs and similar names in Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, and Russia. If you have a general idea of the area you could narrow it down. Marilyn > ====================================================== > I am new to the list and was wondering if I could possibly get some direction? The ancester I am looking for came to the United State in 1848 from Hoenigsberg. I have looked on many, many maps and cannot find Hoeningsberg. Is it still in existence today, has the name been changed, or it is no longer there? I know during the war there were many cities destroyed. Any information would be greatly appreciated. 2. My grandfather, John Louis Leopold KREMHELLER, was born in Munich in November, 1874 to John Kremheller and Elizabeth RALTNECKER. He left Germany in 1887 at age 12 for America. He was orphaned sometime in those 12 years. Any ideas on where to find info on how and where he lived as an orphan? When his parents died? Etc.? He was of the Catholic faith during those years. 3. You need to find the same information as to where they might be in the USA. Immigration records and naturalization records are probably a start if you don't know where they went. I was fortunate in finding old postcards addressed to my grandparents from Switzerland which helped trace origins for me and even addresses where they lived while here. Have you looked for emigration or passport information on your side? Ship information could help as to destination. Here is the url for The National Archives, with links to information available on all ports and the appropriate microfilm series. http://www.nara.gov/publications/microfilm/immigrant/immpass.html#portindex http://globalgenealogy.com/list27.htm for "Searching Passenger Lists http://globalgenealogy.com/list27.htm for "Searching Passenger Lists Using the LDS Family History Library Catalog.
