what listing on Rootsweb should I be on for Mainklein or Tiefenklein?
Hello, I just rec'd an e-mail that state my relatives were not from Baden-Wurttemberg but from Bavarian Upper Palatinate. (except for Peter Mountain) I am researching my family tree and was wondering if you could help me. The information that I have available is on my great grandfather, his name was Emeram Merkl born in Wuerttemberg. He was from a town of Kopblig someone said it might be Koblenz. He was buried in a cemetery called Durnsricht in Amberg. My great grandmother, Barbara Lobenhofner, was born in Hagling, Aberfoltz Bavaria, Germany. (she was married once before Emeram to a man by the name of Joseph Gresser) They had the following children: Year of Birth Anna Merkl 1864 Barbara Merkl 7/12/1865 Crescentia Merkl 7/22/1867 Johann Merkl 10/23/1869 Kunikunta Merkl 1871 Franz Joseph Merkl died as a child at 2 weeks old Anton Merkl 5/29/1874 Margaret Merkl 3/15/1879 Michael Merkl 4/28/1884 They lived on the "Rumbauern Hoff" Napburg Petersberg Pfararie Amberg, Germany, Pittersberger str 8 Freihols, Pfararie Amberg, Germany
I received four pages of genealogy all in German, does anyone know of a site that could translate for me?
Hi! I would be glad to translate for you from German to Englisch or the other way around. Alfons Kerscher

The furthest i have been able to track back the Fischer name is the siblings; maria Fischer, Bertl Fischer and franz fischer, all would have been born around 1899-1908 I believe, Bertl married Schindler, Maria married a Schopf in 1930. I hope this helps you, but I' m not sure
This is my first use of the research line.. My great grandfather Henry Schilb born in 1821 in Bavaria, where his parent were born, came to Iowa sometime before 1850. He married Magdalene Portengen who was from Holland born 1820. Family say they were married in September 1850. I don't believe their parents came to America. I don't know if they married in Iowa or somewhere along the way. I was wondering where to search next. Billie

I've added new things on other pages here and there too, so you might want to scope around the whole website to see what has recently been added. There are some nice new map image links for "Germany" on the "Maps" page, additional links on the "Surnames" page, plus "Language", "Databases", "Books" and a completely new "Politics, Government, Laws and Justice" (thanks to Alija for bringing all of that kind of stuff up on the list recently! <g>) page.......just all kinds of things. BTW, if you have an ancestor who emigrated through New York between 1892 - 1924, I noticed the Ellis Island website has new uploaded manifests since the last time I checked 6 mos. ago. http://www.ellisisland.org Enjoy, Joanne ==== BAVARIAN-ANCESTORS Mailing List ==== Submit YOUR homepage to the BAVARIAN-ANCESTORS listmember's Ancestor Pages website! http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Thebes/4400/index1.html ============================== To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237 ------=_NextPart_000_001B_01C2F4A5.4D4D7BE0--

Dean, One way that I know is to go to the translation program under Altavista.com. You can type your message in English in the box and select translation English to German. You will get the German translation. Highlight it, copy it and paste it into your e-mail that you are sending. I also send the English with the German translation under it. In fact, I add a note that I am using a translation program so they receiver can respond the same way. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need more help.
