    2. Carol, do you know where in Bavaria your ROTH family was from? My ROTH ancestors did not come over until the 1850s, settling initially in Harrison Co., IN near Lanesville. Supposedly there were other families from their Bavarian home in Karbach already there when they arrived in Indiana. Jack Ott

I am looking for a John Ruth/Routh who was a Revolutionary War soldier, who settle in Crawford Co., IN, until he died at age 90 or 95. Wonder if this could be part of the same family? 3. Hello, I tried alta vista translation. Pfaffenhofen im Kurbayerischen translated to ---Pfaffenhofer in cure-Bavaria. Looking in a Webster's dictionary one of the first meanings of cure is pastoral charge (care). Checking jewishgen.org/ShtetlSeeker ---there are 10 town listings for Pfaffenhofen in Germany. Do you have any other information? Do you know the religion? You could then look for church records. 3. Hi Helmut First, it will be most likely "the" Pfaffenhofen and/or the area where other family members are found - that worked for me almost always... Next, a Google search for Pfaffenhofen Jahn returned 969 hits - you might want to add some more family surnames and see if that narrows it down enough to make "cruising sense" and see if that sorts things out Then, and this could be VERY wrong, but aren't the odds better that it's one of the 852xx zips? Finally, spend some time at an online German phone book - I found that most of my kin remained in the same small area for 200-300 years. Maybe write a few letters?! You'll sort it out ~ good luck!
