My guess is that somewhere way back we may be relsted based on your name. Are you black or white, not that it matters, but there is more written history on the white side. Email me if you'd like - sbalkman@nai-psp.com. My direct family all uses the BALKMAN spelling but there is a group in Florida and south Georgia that use your spelling. I have been invited to their family reunion in the past.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/1gC.2ACEB/452.2.1 Message Board Post: Hello Katrina. Because of the y-chromosome DNA test initiated by J.Ross Baughman, I'm most interested in your information regarding John Baughman(1800). I'm especially interested in who his parents were as I've had no luck finding them in the Church Records books by Rev. Paul Miller Ruff.I descend from Johan (John)and Maria Barbara (Franck)Bachman and their son, John Adam, and Margaret (Miller)Baughman. Johan had a brother, Heinrich(Henry)Bachman, married to (Anna) Catharine, who arrived in Westmoreland County from Montgomery County (formerly Philadelphia County) before Johan and Maria Barbara. If the John Baughman (1800) of your information descends from either Johan or Heinrich Bachman/Baughman then all of the Baughman descendants of Westmoreland County are descendants of the Bachmann's of the DNA test which would be way cool! I would greatly appreciate your information. Many thanks.

Surnames: Bachmann, Baughman Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/1gC.2ACEB/597.1 Message Board Post: The David Baughman who married Rebecca Wolfe was the son of Abraham Baughman (b. 1787) and Susanna Weygandt. Abraham in turn was the son of Abraham (b.1749) and Mary Katherine Dietz. Abraham senior is most likely the son of Heinrich Bachmann (b. 1717), although I would like to see a y-chromosome test of a patrilineal descendant to be sure. Abraham went to Ashland Co., OH, while one putative brother (George) went to Franklin County, Ohio and another (Henry, my ancestor) went to Stark, Ohio. But y-chromsomes from descendants of two of Henry's sons do not match the y from a descendant of George (who in turn matches numerous others descended from Richterswil, Canton Zurich Bachmanns)..

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/1gC.2ACEB/7.67.75.78.79.113.118.2.1 Message Board Post: Ruth, I saw your note on ancestory.com. I am also a Grandson of Solomon Jacob Baughman, through his son, Charles Sherman. I assume that Ernest Edwin is my Uncle Ernie, whom I remember when I was a little kid. I think however that Stephen is not a brother but Solomon Jacob's Father. There is another Solomon Jacob Baughman who was born around 1848. I think this Solomon Jacob is Stephen's brother (Stephen was born in 1850 in Waynes County, Ohio). While I think this is the same Stephen that is listed on Solomon Jacob Baughman's death certificate, I am missing some pieces to the puzzle. It appears that Elizabeth Powell was Stephen's first or second wife and the Emma Spooner was his third (m. 1896). They had a son, Franklin. I can find nothing on him. Part of the confusion on Solomon Jacob is that both died in Colorado (our's in Breckenridge and the other in Bolder). I have a fair amount of information going back if I can tie this altogether through a relation of the other Solomon Jacob (our great, granduncle I guess you would call him). There is another Stephen that others have mentioned who was born in Akron, Ohio in 1846 and some think he is our great grandfather. I think this is incorrect due to the fact that the 1900 census he says he was born in 1850, which jives with my other information. I would love to hear any other information you might have. I had communicated with Dottie Moore (I assume it is the same one you mention some years ago and got sidetracked but now I'm back into it). I hope this isn't too confusing. I'd love to hear from you.
