HI, I am searching for information about the parents, grandparents, and siblings of my great X 3 grandmother, Lucinda ( Lucy) BAUGHMAN. Lucy married Joseph SMITH 05 Feb 1835. Joseph was born 08 Nov 1814 in Hempfield Twp. and died 24 April 1902 in Hempfield Twp. He was the son of Daniel and Susan HENRY SMITH of Hempfield Twp. Lucy died 28 Jan 1891 in Hempfield Twp. and is buried in (Harrold's) St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Hempfield Twp. Lucy and Joseph SMITH owned a farm on Cribb's Station Road. They had seven children: David, Ellen, Lewis, Henry, John, Susan, and Rueban. Any information about Lucy's BAUGHMAN family will be greatly appreciated. Cousins, It appears that most of the transmission issues encountered in the past 10 days have been resolved, and the mail is again being delivered in a more timely manner. It is possible that a few pieces may never make it into your mailbox, so I really do suggest that you give the archives a look: http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/BAUGHMAN/2006-08 For those who like to know such things, our mail is now being served on (lists9.rootsweb.com), which has a specific IP address of (66.43.27.45). That information is usually requested by your own ISP if you are having trouble receiving mail. As a reminder, those of you who were subscribed in both "regular" and "digest" modes have probably discovered that you have only one subscription (the new mail server software puts all subscriptions in one list, so it will not permit two subscriptions with the same address) instead of two. If you REALLY want to maintain two subscriptions, they must be at least slightly different addresses. For example, some ISPs will transmit mail to you whether it is addressed to your "regular" address or one which has the word "mail" or something similar added [ex: JohnDoe@mymail.com and JohnDoe@mail.mymail.com]. Remember that you must use the alternate address when subscribing, and the Digest subscription address is <mailto:BAUGHMAN-D-request@rootsweb.com>. Or, you might find a second, free, service that can be set to forward the messages to your "regular" address. Also, some Digest subscribers may see a change in the way their Digest Mail is delivered. If you feel it is not to your liking, please contact me privately, and I may be able to switch it to the other type. -- __________________________ James Shuman, Co-Moderator jshuman@telis.org __________________________
Cousins, We received notice last evening that this list had been successfully migrated to the new server. Most of us will see little if any difference. This is in way of Welcome to the update, and to remind you that the change will mostly affect digest subscribers and, temporarily, AOL users. If you are having any problems that you feel might be attributed to the change-over, please direct them to <mailto:BAUGHMAN-admin@rootsweb.com>. So, let us get on with our genealogical research! -- _______________________ James Shuman, list custodian jshuman@telis.org _______________________
Colleagues Since the RootsWeb list server this List will be moving to is NEW, even though the list server IS white-listed with AOL, it is possible there still might be some "issues" in which there are delays in delivery for a short time, or some or all of the mail from this list goes into your spam folder. Therefore, after the list migration has occurred, it is imperative for you to check your spam folder and if you find ANY list mail there BE SURE TO CLICK THE *THIS IS NOT SPAM* link to send ALL the list mail to your inbox --even if you doubt that it is anything you will want to read. It is VERY important to help train the filters and let AOL know that this new server can be trusted. We ask that you please remember this. -- _______________________ James Shuman, list custodian jshuman@telis.org _______________________

RootsWeb is beginning the process of switching over to new upgraded list management software. For List subscribers, the changeover should be smooth, although you may notice a few little differences in the way your mail displays on your computer. The changes primarily involve the administration tools that keep the list running behind the scenes. Once all the transitions are complete and mailing list moderators have had time to work with their administrative tools "behind the scenes," there will be several improvements to offer subscribers, but that won't happen for a few weeks yet. We'll keep you posted on when they become available. Here's what you need to know now: The BAUGHMAN List is scheduled for "migration" on Thursday, August 17. All RootsWeb list names will be officially changed to delete the -L and -D designations, so this list will become just "BAUGHMAN." You may subscribe or unsub by sending your request to: BAUGHMAN-request@rootsweb.com --with one exception. If you wish to subscribe in Digest mode you must send your subscribe request to BAUGHMAN-D-request@rootsweb.com. The word "subscribe" or "unsubscribe" must be included in the SUBJECT and may also be included in the message body. Digest subscribers will notice some changes to the list digests. New instructions will be added to the digests - please read them. In addition, the digest volume and issue number may be different (out of sequence) from what you had been receiving. If your digests arrive in a different format than you are used to and you would like it changed, contact us privately at the list admin address: BAUGHMAN-admin@rootsweb.com. Also, if you run into any unusual or confusing occurrences with mail from this list that could possibly be related to the changeover, let us know. If you use email headers to filter list mail to a special folder in your email program you may need to check whether your filters will need tweaking under the new system. IMPORTANT NOTICE: If you previously subscribed to the list in both L and D modes using the same email address you will find that you are no longer subbed in Digest mode. The new software doesn't permit the same address to be subbed in both L and D modes and defaults to List mode. Therefore, if you wish to receive both modes, you will need to subscribe to the digests using a different email address. Please continue to send your queries, data, and responses to the list as usual. It is a great time to post a new query to try to break down those brick walls. Thanks! -- _______________________ James Shuman, list custodian jshuman@telis.org _______________________
