After Nathan L. Gilmore died Catherine had remarried a David Baughman. In the research it states that Nathan and Catherine's eldest child" Isaac Gilmore's death certificate stated that his father Nathan and Nathan's brother James came to Ohio from Fayette Co. Pa." I have Isaac Gilmore's death certificate and "Death-Additional Information" card copies. No where on this does it say that his father Nathan or uncle James Gilmore came from Fayette Co. Pa. It does say born Dec. 18, 1945 Logan Co. Oh.-died Mar. 28, 1919 Hardin Co. Ohio. The infromant may be James Gilmore of Fosteria, Ohio. His father is listed here as Nathan Gilmore. I would like the researchers of John Gilmores to give me input on the John Gilmore of Logan Co. Ohio born abt 1790-1800 in the 1830 & 1840 logan County censuses.This will be much welcomed also as we weed them out. I have a death certificate for John Wesley Gilmore born July 25, 1849 Fayette Co. Pa. His parents are Jonas Gilmore & Eliza Rush. John died Oct. 13, 1935 widowed in Hardin Co. Ohio. The informant is Mrs Milo Sauter Hardin Co. Ohio. If this is correct is Fayette Co. Pa a Pennsylvania Dutch area? If it is are the other Gilmores in Hardin and Logan from Pa.? Mother says this family was Pennsylvania Dutch but I am getting information here that they could only ever be Irish. I welcome your thoughts on this matter. It is very likely that Emanuel Baughman was the son of George Baughman--the 1850 census shows George Baughman's son Emanuel living with his sister and brother-in-law in Washington Co., IL, but he had been born and raised in the part of Stark Co., OH that became Carroll Co. The E. Baughman in Brown township of Carroll Co. is your (gbaughman and Alma's) ancestor and his wife in that census came was born IL, further suggesting that Emanuel had returned from IL to his home area. There is a way to substantiate or disprove the connection of Emanuel to George. George's father was Henry Baughman, b. 1759, an early judge (1803) in Columbiana Co., OH before settling in Stark Co. about 1816.
