I am searching for Christian Bauer - particularly his history before he was married, his passage from Alsace to America, and his ancestors. He was born somewhere in Alsace ("near the forest") in 1825/6. He emigrated at 18 years, I think with a brother, and worked as a purser on a Great Lakes ship. He married Ernestina Kemp, and they had their first child in 1864/5. Ernestina was 12 years younger than Christian. They settled in Lind Twp., Waupaca Co., Wisconsin. John N.
