John Slater 1872 (occ: Watchmaker, f: Rupert Slater, m: Betsy Marson). Had a least one living child Herbert Wilton Slater in UK 1874. They left UK 1875 for Australia with baby Herbert. Have BMD certificates for their Australian events and some quite interesting info, would be happy to exchange scans of these documents, if anyone has any photos, etc. of these particular Bateson-Slater families, would appreciate as have none and have never seen any. (Immediate family wouldn't discuss this line, hence difficulties, no use at all, no memorabilia, just secrets!!). In Australia, John later married into the Beanland-Betham (or Benthorn) family, also originally from this same W.R. Yorkshire area and are also welcome to swap as are step-family. Also posted under UK Yorkshire West Riding General Category. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I too have Abraham Bateson in my family tree, as father of James, my great great grandfather James Bateson. There are a great number of Batesons in Yorkshire and I am now trying to sort them all out. I believe Abraham was the son of William - he is listed in the Horswforth census on 1795 as being married with a household of 7. He was also a "milner" according to some records I have seen, In 1882 Abraham as shown as in Rawdon and was a plumber and glazier. Most of this information comes via the Rootschat lookup facility. regards Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
