Here's the file that has the old Pattern naming conventions, taking a long time ago from The Source BBS. I think you hit it right on the noxe, AudeeG. Families do use maiden names as first or middle names for their offspring. Sometimes it followed a "Naming Pattern" in which the first born male was named for his father's father etc including a sequence for the female children. (I have forgotten the patterns. I once had it on a sheet hanging on my monitor but it faded so much it became useless.) In my own family, I had an aunt of the Bates surname who married a Gentry. One of their sons was christened Bates Gentry. In another case. I did not know the maiden name of a great-great grandmother Robinson. One day I discovered her burial place in Mississippi and beside her was buried a young man named Richmond Love Robinson. It had a familiar ring so I looked at the descendant children of the next two generations. In one generation there was a Sadie Love Bates. In the next their was a Rema Love Bates. It didn't take much mulling over to decide that great-great grandmother Robinson's maiden name was Love. According to the census of 1850, she was born in SC. Someday I hope to find a nest of Loves in SC who may be her family. Hang in there and keep looking. You'll find your answer, sometime when you least expect it.
