I am looking for information on Fleming Bates who married Catherine Talbot in Halifax County, VA. Catherine had several children by a previous marriage and I do not know her maiden name. Fleming and Catherine had a son James Flournoy Bates who was my great grandfather. The people at Bates Family of Old Virginia say that Fleming and Catherine were never married and Fleming had a previous marriage with several children.
