Want to share our good news. We have found our Bates families all buried in Floral, Kansas, including some we had never heard about. Two died in other states, but were returned to Floral for burial. Now have obituaries on most of them, as follows: Nelson Bates, born 1831, died Feb. 13, 1893. Serepta Parrish Bates, wife of Nelson, born 1869, died April 8, 1911 in Erle, Ohio. Darwin Bates, son of Nelson and Serepta, born 26 March, 1869 in LaGrange, MO, died July 27, 1937. Alice Jane Moore Bates, wife of Darwin, born 1 March, 1872 in Iowa, died 28 August, 1935. Edgar L Bates, son of Nelson and Serepta, born 23 July, 1859 in Iowa, died 8 December, 1931. Lydia Robbins Bates, wife of William Pitt Bates, born 4 November, 1873 in Medford, IL, died 31 December, 1926 in Muskogee, OK at home of only child, Frank Delmar Bates. Also buried in Floral are Henry Harrison and Hattie Robbins, parents of Serpta Robbins Bates. Henry was a Civil War veteran, so this opens up another exciting hunt for us.
