I am a Baseball Historian am trying to find a former major leaguer Creed Bates. He was from Chattanooga but left to start his Baseball career before 1900. His father Levi Marcus Bates died and his obit is in the Chattanooga Times November 27, 1904. There are a couple of Creed F Bates in the City Directories afterwards but that is not him. A Creed F Bates has an obit in the Chatt Times March 25, 1909. If it is him, the death occurred elsewheres. He was in Jail in Quincy Ill 1909 but I don't know exactly when.
