He was a German, BETZ/ BEITZ, however was found from ca 1830 census on, as BATES - on census & agricultural schedules, Civil War records, and burial and estate records. Moses BETZ/ BEITZ/ BATES was born ca 1816-19, Jenners twp., Somerset Co PA s/o Christian & Christiana BETZ/ BEITZ; d. ca 2 Sept 1875, Millcreek twp, Williams Co OH; mar. 1836, prob Bath twp, Summit Co OH, to ANNA PEACH d/o Jacob & Rachael (BRELSFORD) PEACH. I'm most interested in finding leads to their sons during and after the Civil War period. Children - all born in Summit and Williams Cos. OH: i. Christopher S.
