Still trying to locate info on BENJAMIN L. BATES b.-1804-1805 CT, m.-Mary? [2} remarried in 1850, on the census shows a Ruth Bates, Son BIRNEY BATES b.-1847-1848 NY,WILLIAM BATES b.-1850 NY, left NY around 1866 settled in Texas. I did find a Berne Bates in Alabama in 1880, but can't connect to the family yet. Benjamin was a lawyer in NY. They lived in Rochester, Monroe County in 1850. There was also a Deborah Petty living in the household in 1850, maybe Ruth's mother. Thanks,Sandra
