I am looking for information of the following family Joseph BATES (son of Jonathan BATES & Mehitable WILLOUGHBY) was b. 1787 Vermont, and married a Harriet DODGE b. before 1817. Together they had 8 children: Harriet in 1820 NY; Joseph in 1817 NY; Mary in 1821 NY; James in 1823 OH; Elizabeth in 1827 OH; Melinda, Truman, and Thomas. Joseph remarried after Harriet died in 1845 OH. I can't seem to find my information of his second marriage, but I do know that Joseph moved out further west. After a possible short stay in Missouri, where his son Truman died in 1852, Joseph moved into Iowa. Joseph died 1 Aug 1866 and was buried in Story Co, Iowa at the Pleasant Run Cemetery. Can anyone help with this family? Any connections out there? Larry M. Milligan
