For about 8 years I have been looking for the parents and further ancestors of Asa Bates, b. abt. 8 June 1791 in Mass.; m. abt. 1814, prob. in Bolten, Warren Co., N.Y., Sarah Milks (b. 1787; d. 1856; dau. of Lemuel and Mary [Thurston] Milks). The family removed to Otto, Cattaraugus County, N.Y. where Asa d. on 16 Apr. 1852. He was buried in the North Otto Cemetery in Otto, N.Y. Asa and Sarah are my wife's g-g-g-g-grandparents.
