Missy: Loved your poem!! Funny you should ask this now! My mother (a Bates--this is her email address) has just recently received copies of many Bates photos from a very old photo album (pre-1890 judging by the clothing). A few of these pictures are marked with names that we know, but many are not, so we have no idea of who they are. These are Rhode Island Bates (South Kingstown, Cranston) descended from Welcome Bates (1801-1868) and Ann Eliza James and/or their families. We would like very much to have a web location on which to upload copies of these pics for possible ID assistance. Anyone out there know of a good, busy site where we can post these? Is there a rootsweb site for this? We have a scanner and a program to convert to JPG. We could also post these on myfamily.com, but I think they require a password(??) Thanks, Barbara katsyblb@aol.com P.S. The Bates people one+ generation back on my mom's side are v-e-r-y T-A-L-L. ========================================================= Subj: [BATES-L] Pictures Date: 5/6/00 5:35:44 PM Central Daylight Time From: MissyD714@aol.com To: BATES-L@rootsweb.com Do you ever wonder if you look like Bates of years gone by? I wish that we could post all those nameless pictures to see any family resemblance. My line has a peculiar ear, nothing major, just a little point that was passed on for a few generations. Any suggestions about creating an album, etc.? Missy > > STRANGERS IN THE BOX >>
