Someone must have Abram as a son, sibling, divorced husband, uncle?? I believe him to be Quaker. He married Mary Ellen Preston (Ella) of Dover, Dutchess Co. NY in 1876. They moved to KS, then finally to CA. Was he an orphan? Why did Ella's parents not like the union? Did he own a bookstore in Poughkeepsie? Family lore says he was in his store when she entered. He said to a friend, "see that girl who just came in? I'm going to marry her" so love at first sight and all that. He was pretty old for a first marriage so maybe he was a divorced or widowed man when he met her. Gads, perhaps he was married! Anyway, for some reason, he was not appreciated by her family. Maybe being a Quaker did it. On one census it is stated that both his parents were born in PA. Any help is much appreciated. I cannot believe that this man's family is such a secret or mystery when we know so much about Ella's going way back.
