My family history center's IGI has the following extracted birth record: BATES, Sylvester b. 1811 Keene, Cheshire Co., New Hampshire (no parents listed) Is anyone researching this Sylvester Bates? It seems odd to me to have an extracted birth record that only has a year, and I wonder whether it might have been "extracted" from a marriage license rather than a birth record. I have a Sylvester Bates in my ancestry, born 10-13-1811 in Hartland (Windsor Co)., Vermont, son of Sylvanus BATES (1778-1860) and Sophia CADY and if there are in fact two Sylvester Bates at that time, I think the New Hampshire guy's records are confusing my search!
