    1. BAITS/BATES & Pierce's Register
    2. Can someone tell me what I am "looking at". I am fairly new to serious ancestor researching, and don't always know what to do with information I do receive. This is exactly how it was e-mailed to me.....(attempts to contact sender got "unable to deliver.....): ************** << Pierces Register, from 17th report of National Society of DAR 90216 James Baits Lincoln Co. County formed from Tyron Co Roster of Soldiers from NC in American Revolution NC DAR 1932 Registered under Co Thomas Clark NC pd to Nov 15, 1783. R Fenner Agt pg 27 ........90216 James Baits 23.30 ************************ The above came in response to my posting the following: James BAITS/BATES (b.?? -- d bef 1810 TN) m Elisabeth TUBB (b. 1754 Orange Co NC -- d 1833 Smith Co TN) on 19 JULY 1782 in Rutherford Co NC Removed to Greenville SC where at least 9 of their 12 children were born Removed to TN in approx 1804 James & Elisabeth were Baptists (We found them listed as members in the Head of Enoree Church, Greenville SC -- membership roll 1799-1804) No other Bates family listed. James is last shown on the 1800 South Carolina Census. Elisabeth appears as a widow on the 1810 census in TN Who were James' parents, siblings, etc. There were many BATES families living in the Greenville SC area at that time. My James must have been related to someone? Was he a farmer? Did he serve in the Revolutionary War? >> >>
