Have made a lot of progress in finding information on Nelson A. Bates, born 1831 in New York, after he married Serepta R. Parrish in Wellington, Lorain County, OH. I also have her Parrish, Gaylord and Carney lines back several generations. Now I would like to find Nelson's parents and siblings. All help welcome. After Nelson and Serepta married they had Arthur in Camden, Loran County, then moved to Toledo, Black Hawk, IA, where they had Frank L., Edgar, Alice and Adah, After Arthur and Alice died there, the family moved back to Lorain County, settling in LeGrange, where Darwin, William Pitt and Charlotte were born. In 1888 they moved to Floral, near Winfield, KS..I don't know what happened to Frank and Adah, but Edgar, Darwin and William ran a large plant nursery in Floral for many years. Edgar never married; both he and Darwin died in Floral. William moved down to Texas and had an orchard in Pharr, where he died in 1951 age age 80.
