Hi all, It seems like this morning I saw some messages re Bates' in Canada. In up-dating my Bates info, I came across a Bates who moved to Canada. This is from the Clement "of Hingham" Bates line. Possibly someone can connect. Roger Bates b 11-9-1745 d 1825 m 12-1-1768 Huldah Stodder b? d 1840 Roger moved to Boston. Then to Winchendon, Mass - 1773 and 1777 to Springfield, VT. In 1797 he moved to Cobourg, Canada where he died. He served as a minuteman at Winchendon 1775 and is mentioned in the Winchendon Honor Roll. In Canada he was known as a United Empire Loyalist, and received land grants from the Canadian government.
