I have recently joined this mailing list and would like to hear from anyone who is a descendant of Mark Bates who settled in Main a Dieu, Cape Breton, N.S,around 1828.He came to Cape Breton from County Wexford, Ireland and settled in Main a Dieu and was married to Catherine Carrol and there were 7 children. I intend to travel to Ireland in 1998 and visit County Wexford and possibly learn more about my roots.
