    1. Abner BATES (1735-1817), Cohasset to Chesterfield MA
    2. R. Thomas
    3. My ancestor Abner Bates (Abner>Solomon>Joshua>Joseph>Clement) was born in Cohasset, MA in 1735, where most if not all his children were also born. After the war, he moved the family to Chesterfield, Hampshire County, MA. I've been able to find much on my line in Cohasset/Hingham, but between his daughter Mary (1769-1849) and my 20th century ancestors, I have no documentation, and rather sketchy info on siblings and such. Anyone with info (preferably sourced!!) on this line? I descend from Ephraim V. White (1803-1862), son of Ezekiel (III) White and Mary Bates. ============================================== Robin E. This Benjamin married Hannah Kelley, and moved, along with James, from Cohasset to Chesterfield, MA, during or shortly after the Revolution. Benjamin and Hannah had a daughter Emily. Does anyone have information on Emily and/or her siblings, i.e. place of birth, marriage, etc.? Do you know where I could obtain proofs? Thanks very much, Jane Brumbaugh

    3. I downloaded a gedcom on Williston Bates and Susan Jane Bennett, from a web site, not sure where as this was some time ago. today when I opened this, I find that it is not complete, none of the families are linked together. I was able to piece some of this together from what I had on paper. If any one has this file or is reasearaching this family please contact me. This is Williston's second family and I do have info on the first that I will gladly share. Thanks Judy

    2. In a message dated 99-02-16 07:30:10 EST, you write: << s.g.ellenburg@att.net >> Hi, Saw your post on the Bates Digest and noted you are researching Gallaher. I have never been able to make any progress on my search for my great- grandmother, Mary Gallaher, who was born 25 Dec 1841 in WV. She married James Madison Shaw in 1865 in Columbiana County, OH and they later moved to Chase County, KS. There is a little more about the family I listed on the Gallaher Genealogy Forum, where I note your Gallahers were from Texas. Do you know if they originally were from PA or WV? I also have never found my husband's Bates line back past Nelson Bates, who was born in NY in 1831. If you have any luck obtaining the Bates CDs and happen to see a Nelson Bates I sure would appreciate any info you find. Thanks. Patti
